Ready for some Regency-inspired knitting?

This was a Pride and Prejudice Advent calendar project that started January 28, 2022, the day Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen was published! Originally designed to complement Merino y Vino’s Pride and Prejudice Surprise Box, the MKaL has finished but you can still join the fun by casting on today. Shop your stash or check out Merino y Vino’s shop to get your supplies and join the fun!

Inspired by the regency fashions popular during the Pride and Prejudice time-period, the First Impressions Shawl & Scarf will work wonderfully with any semi-solid/tonal/lightly speckled full fingering-weight skein and seventeen 20g fingering-weight mini-skeins of any dye-style (even those wild variegated ones).

If you’re using the Pride & Prejudice Kit from Merino y Vino, each “chapter” in the pattern pertains to each day. If you’re not working from the kit you can choose to follow the chapter-a-day layout or, just like reading a good book, you can move at your own pace through the pattern. Just make sure to pay attention to the called-for colors in each chapter.

I’ve sprinkled links to tutorials and resources throughout the pattern to make things as easy as possible for you. Some tutorials are videos & some are step-by-step photo tutorials, but all are helpful.

Read on for all the details & happy knitting!

Shaina ^_^

PS: I’ve seen that a few of you were a little lost on Chapter 8’s join so I’ve just posted a video tutorial explaining it. Let me know if you need any further help along the way.

Thank you for participating in the Knit-a-Long & for sharing your photos. It’s been so lovely seeing everyone’s projects & hearing your enthusiasm for the event!

Errata:
I apologize but I’ve found a few errors that I made when I was formatting the final version of the pattern. Most of these errors are in the Shawl-size so if your version of the pattern was downloaded before 2/5/22 please download the new version of the pattern if that is the size you are making.

In Chapter 4 (both sizes): At the end of this Chapter you should break MC. (Most of you have figured this out, but I corrected it in the pattern & wanted to clarify.)

In Chapter 8 (Shawl Size): You should cast on 248 sts which will give you a total of 250 active stitches. {This also means that I’ve corrected the finished measurements to 76.5 x 12 (51 x 22)“ 194 x 30 (130 x 56) cm}. You also only work 16 total rows in pattern with MC, not 24.

In Chapters 9-17 (Shawl Size): You now work a total of 20 rows, not 18.

In Chapter 18 (Shawl Size): You now work a total of 18 rows, not 20.

In The Finale (Shawl Size): You only work 16 total rows in pattern with MC, not 24.

I know that it seems like a lot of corrections, but it was really just a matter of me copying over from the wrong file when I was doing the final formatting of this pattern & I apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused. Please let me know if there are any areas that you need further explanation on & I’ll be happy to help.
