A lacy crocheted square for shawls, throws, pillow overlays, curtains, or afghans.

This pattern is called “Five Diamonds” because, no matter which way it is turned, there are five diamonds (or squares), one within another, in the center of the square.

Each square in the pictured sample measures 10” x 10”, when blocked. Your gauge may be different. A tighter tension, a smaller hook, or a lighter yarn weight will produce a smaller square and vice versa.

Approximately 1.2 oz (63 yds) worsted weight yarn (10-ply or #4) for each square. Sample shown uses Red Heart Super Saver in Soft White.

Skill level is intermediate, but an advanced beginner would be able to complete the project using the addendum for round six. Addendum includes expanded, line-by-line instructions and detailed photos.

The pattern includes a stitch conversion chart for US to UK/AU/NZ stitches and a separate addendum that gives detailed instructions for US stitches, so UK/AU/NZ crocheters will know exactly how to execute the stitches.
