The Four Seasons Scarves are lacy interpretations of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Spring celebrates the renewal of life with fern fronds, small flower buds and a snail shell edging.
Summer showcases the exuberance of the season with bold flower motifs and a leafy edging.
Autumn is represented by falling beech leaves and a picot edging suggesting small seeds.
Winter sparkles with delicate snowflakes and an icy alpine edging.

All scarves are begun by knitting a lace edging from which stitches are picked up to work the main rectangular body. Winter is finished by knitting another lace edging onto the live stitches of the body. Spring, Summer and Autumn are each worked as two identical halves and joined in the centre with Russian Grafting. These are combination stocking stitch and garter stitch scarves.

Finished size of each scarf: Approx. 11 inches wide and 56 inches long

Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4 ) needles, for scarf body.
3 (US 3) needles, for scarf edging.
Looser knitters use smaller needles, tighter knitters use larger needles.

Gauge: Not important. The above needle sizes are recommended for average to looser knitters. Tighter knitters use 4 mm (US 6) for body and 3.5 mm (US 4) for edging.
