This is the design we have knit on our second RAL - KAL (Read Along / Knit Along) at in tiziana’s corner, a shawl inspired by the book “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, by Douglas Adams. :-))

“Galassia” is the Italian word for Galaxy.
When I read the book I had immediately clear in mind I wanted a shawl that had stars (after all it’s a Galaxy!), parachutes, and Norwegian traditional knitting motifs that represent stylized fjords
(… if you haven’t read the book I don’t want to spoil the surprise …)

The main question was “Which stitch pattern would be good for the first part of the shawl?
The answer was… “stitch 42”. :-))

The pattern has both charts and line-by-line directions, and it has video tutorials for the less common sts.

My sample in the first picture (7-wedges) has been knit with 832 yd / 760 m of laceweight Farbmasche 80% Merino / 20% silk (875 yd / 800 m on 3.53 oz / 100 g), and needles size 3.5 mm - US size 4.
Beads (optional): # 6 size 8/0 and #12 size 6/0 for each wedge.
