This pattern shows you how to knit a basket with thick cotton rope, where to get the materials, and how to adapt the pattern to make baskets in different sizes and shapes. The large basket is approximately 12 inches tall and 13 inches in diameter. The medium is 10x10 inches and the small is 9x9 inches. Once you know your gauge it’s easy to adapt your basket to different shapes.

The cotton rope only comes in white, so there is also some information on how to dye rope. You can use other ropes and jumbo yarns, too.

When I teach this class in person, there is a wide range of tension between knitters. So if you knit loosely, I would suggest using a size 35 needle. If your stitches tend to be tight, go up to size 50.

I also offer this as a video class on Skillshare.com (https://skl.sh/2lQTBuQ) In the class I show the knitting on size 35 needles.
