This cowl was designed by me for the specific purpose of fitting close in to my neck when I’m wearing my dog walking parka.

The chevron stitch is nice and stretchy and the cowl wraps around my neck once to provide a nice snug fit, you can alternatively wear it loose.

Or if you love the pattern but not the cowl, just keep on knitting your full 100g skein for a scarf because the pattern looks great on both sides.

The name of the pattern comes from my fullest appreciation of sunny gorse flowers even on the gloomiest of winter days and the gorse fairies are part of the Flower Fairies by Cecily Mary Barker.

The full repeat, 12 stitches and 12 rows = 4cm x 4cm.
