The Homebody Mitts are the 6th of 6 secret gift-knitting patterns in the Knitvent 2019 Collection! They coordinate with the Homebody Hat and Homebody Socks.

This time of year is often intense, with so many conflicting demands on our schedules. It can be especially challenging for us homebodies. The calendar fills up with parties and concerts, events and outings, shopping, chores, and a thousand errands that drag us away from the fireside and out into the wider world. And it’s all happening just when we instinctively feel a pull towards family and home. Beyond the practical demands, the emotions of the season are often complex. For many people, thoughts of home and the holidays can be bittersweet. When we start to feel as if it’s all a little too much, it’s important to have a calm and quiet place to return to, to regroup and recharge. Often, knitting is that place for me. It’s a portable retreat, a safe haven where I can rest my homebody soul even for a few quiet moments and a few thoughtful stitches.

The Homebody Mitts complete the Homebody trilogy of patterns, joining the matching Homebody Hat and Socks. These cuddly mitts are the perfect wristwarmers and are adaptable enough to be worn as armwarmers if you like. They make a lovely last-minute gift all on their own, but if someone is high up on the nice list this year you could knit a matching set of any two or all three patterns. Together they offer so many ways to keep your loved one warm this holiday season. The DK weight yarn and the mock cable stitch pattern and ribbing work together to make the Homebody Mitts extra plush and warm. The pattern includes two sizes and is easily adjustable if you want to make them longer or shorter.
