I love mittens made with worsted weight wool knit at a tight gauge. Add a graphic check and I’m in mitten heaven!
This is a simple pattern for classic houndstooth check mittens. Different sizes can be achieved using different needle sizes, and differing weights of worsted weight yarn.
Knitters should be familiar with stranded knitting, reading a chart, knitting in the round and basic mitten construction techniques.
Reading a chart is an essential skill to follow this pattern. Knitting charts are read from right to left. Experience with stranded knitting is also necessary, but hey, don’t be afraid to try it. It’s really not bad. You Tube can be really educational if you would like to try this method. Search for stranded knitting or even fair-isle. I hope you enjoy this pattern. Happy knitting!
