Dedicated to memory and short life of angel baby “Phoneix “

These Cardigans are given to the mothers of micro- preemies who have died .. a photograph is taken and then the mothers to get the knitwear as a keepsake.
I wanted to encourage a lovely lady who I discovered had this very tragic heartbreak during her pregnancy at 23 weeks she loss her little sweet baby .I am pouring as much love and gratitude into these knits for all the Mothers going through this distressing time .
I have had a few people request to knit with me and mail these Cardigan to me.Contact me for an address but you must must send items in ZIPLOCK bag before packaging and mailing them.

I received a outdated pattern with no designer name, that i found difficult to understand due to the vintage style writing.I decided to heavily modify and turn it into a row by row pattern to possibly make it easier for any level knitter. Hoping others will join in on my on-going project of knitting these cardigans for NICU micro-preemie from 1-3lbs.

I am reminded to be even more grateful as i look at my sweet10 year old who will be helping to knit these as well.

Yarn:
Fingering weight/ sock weight is best
The best yarns for Preemies are spun from cotton, bamboo, acrylic, and alpaca.
Colors: White/blue /pink/lavender + other gender neutral colors

Avoid yellow because the micro-preemies skin can be a little dusky at birth and the color yellow isn’t flattering. Avoid heavy variegrated yarns.
A few rich colors don’t hurt ..mostly soft pastel are great.

Embellishments: Try to keep anything sewn on to the front of the Cardi and away from the sides and back of the body so the baby won’t be laying on any kind of applique, silk flower, etc.

Felted heart or special buttons are a nice touch .

Please look out for the Blanket and my Hat pattern will have the Preemie hat included!

Items from this pattern are NOT to be sold. This pattern is supplied on the condition that items made from it are given to neo-natal units (NICU) and/or the various premature and baby loss charities that help families at their most distressing time.Thank you for “Honoring” this request.

I will talkabout tips that help with making these sweater on episode 18 and 19..the Ravelry group will hav threads for each upcoming episode which is hosted on Youtube.
