Illusory Kodamas and Totoros
Because these illusion knitting charts can be incorporated into various knitting projects, no particular yarn, needles or gauge are specified. Depicted in these charts are kodamas and totoros, cute little characters from Japanese animated films directed by Hayao Miyazaki. (These shy forest spirits appeared in Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro.) Because they like to stay hidden, they’re very appropriate subjects of illusion knitting. This technique creates a piece of knitting that shows stripes when viewed head-on, but reveals pictures when viewed at a sideways angle. Go ahead, try it for free!
