“Inverness” Shawl
This design is knitted and then felted to create a shawl that’s inspired by clothing in the 1800s, when for the poorer women of the time, a rustic, warm felted shawl around their shoulders would have been a necessity. Those worn by the slightly wealthier would have been embroidered to add detail and further texture.

Due to being felted after knitting it’s a great special piece for an intermediate beginner to try, as the rustic edges and feel of the piece allow for any mistakes or unevenness to become a feature of the finished felted shawl.

No two shawls will ever be the same due to the felting process.

The yarn used to create this must of course be able to felt and therefore should not have a superwash label attached to it, or contain any manmade fibre.
The yarn details I have used are all included here in the pattern, and to allow for the shawl to be soft and flexible its created in 4ply/fingering weight yarn.
