In Lewis Carroll’s beloved “Alice in Wonderland” stories, the Cheshire Cat is an unhelpful prankster who appears to young Alice in the woods. When she tries to ask him which way she ought to go, he tells her that it really doesn’t matter which direction she chooses if she doesn’t have a destination in mind. This pattern will show you how to knit a Chesire Cat of your very own -- or for that friend of yours who likes to wander aimlessly with no care at all as to where they end up.

This is an easy to intermediate pattern written in US terminology, 8 pages with lots of photographs. You may want to have some experience with short rows. Two of the kittyballs shown are made with self-striping yarn, but a tutorial for jogless stripes knit manually is included in the pattern. The kittyballs are around 6 inches tall and 8 inches long, and all of the pieces are knit -- there is no felt to be sewn on.

PLEASE NOTE that this pattern is for non-commercial purposes only; neither it nor the finished kittyballs are to be resold. The Cheshire Cat is from the Alice in Wonderland stories by Lewis Carroll, and they are in the public domain. Thank you for your interest!
