Our days of remembrance are not only about those who fought and those who died, it is about how we and future generations choose to live in light if the sacrifice of theirs. I cannot separate myself from the history that made my present story possible. I am grateful and humbled and a bit scared of what would happen if we do forget.

Visible or tangible reminders are meaningful and helpful. I wanted to make a poppy and I wanted to share the pattern so we can encourage each other and those around us to live lives of thanks and rememberance.

This poppy can be worked in any weight of yarn. My model was made with sport weight yarn and a size G (4mm) crochet hook.
