Lincoln the Sausage Dog is the ideal companion to help keep nasty cold winds away from your doors. He will, using the suggested yarn, fit most average sized doorways, and has plenty of character to brighten up the dullest of days!

The written pattern gives easy to follow, step by step instructions on how to make the different shapes required for the body, and how to create the head and tail by crocheting in the round. Photo tutorials are given, where applicable. PLEASE NOTE: Diagrammatic patterns are NOT available for this pattern.

The pattern is made using Paton’s 100% DK Cotton yarn and approximate measurements are given using this yarn. The yardage for this yarn is 210/230yds per 100g. You are free to use alternative yarns but the actual finished measurements may, of course, vary. Although in the finished item I have used only three colours, you are free to choose a variety of colours to complete the motifs. This pattern is, therefore, perfect for using up those odds and ends that you may have lying about that cannot be used for anything in particular. A bright, vibrant mix of colours would make Lincoln look stunning. The choice is yours and the possibilities are endless! Let your creative side emerge!

It is hard to gauge how much yarn you will ultimately use as it depends on the type and variety of colours you will use. The main body yarn, which I also used for the head and tail, required 2 x 100 g balls/skeins. On average I used 2 of each colour

Toy stuffing/fibrefill is also required to complete this pattern.

You will need to have a good level of crochet skills to be able to complete this pattern; it requires that you know how to crochet in the round, change colours and either attach the motifs by using the ‘Join as you go’ method or by sewing them together. For these reasons this pattern is designed for EXPERIENCED crocheters.

Instructions are given using American terms. You will need to know how to do basic crochet stitches:

Single Crochet; Double Crochet; Half Double crochet;Slip stitch

As well as:

Long DC; DCtog; SC Increase; SC Decrease

You will also need basic sewing skills.

There are no small parts (i.e .buttons) used in making this but there is a suggestion that you can replace some of the parts with small objects. With this in mind, please be aware of safety aspects when Lincoln is around young children. SMALL PARTS CAN CAUSE A CHOKING HAZARD.

The pattern has been tested, but should you have any problems I am only too happy to help. As with many patterns, there may be some small errors and without them being pointed out, they cannot be rectified. Details of how to contact me, outside of this site, are included at the end of the pattern.
