What am I missing?
Linea
Linea is a deceptively simple and elegant colourwork cardigan for boys and girls up to the age of 2 years.
The simple plain/purl stitch pattern of the body and sleeves evolves into an equally simple 2 colour pattern, the twist is in the lovely detail lines created by the raglan decreases.
The knitter must be confident enough to extrapolate pattern placement from a chart (there are also written instructions for the stitch pattern, but the placement requires a small amount of thought) that said it is not overly scary!
Circular needles are required as although the garment body is knitted flat, the dexterity of circular needles are required for the yoke. DPNs are suggested for the sleeves, however I expect you to use your preferred method of working in the round.
The body of the garment is worked in MC (main colour) I would suggest a solid colour and the CC (contrast colour) works well if it is a contrasting multicoloured yarn or hand paint. Linea is a great way to use a small amount of beautiful yarn for a special child.
You choose whether to have long or short sleeves.
If you are looking for a similar pattern in DK weight yarn, try Trackwork alternatively my pattern “Trelise” will be published shortly and is a DK version of Linea in sizes up to 10 years.
This pattern has been test knitted and tech edited.
