Practical, fun, and stylish, this cozy mitten fits snugly at the wrist to keep out the snow.

Size: Women’s medium (8 inch circumference)
Yarn: 2 balls Noro Kureyon, or any worsted weight yarn
Other Materials: stitch markers, two large buttons (the ones pictured are 1 ¾ in.)
Needles: size 5 US (3.75mm) double-pointed needles or any size that will achieve gauge

NOTE: After wearing the mittens for several days, I decided that the thumb was a tad too snug. Adding another stitch in the gap fixed the problem perfectly.

I’ll update the pattern soon, but this is how to make a slightly bigger thumb:

After distributing stitches on three needles…
Rnd 1: pick up 1 st in gap close to the first stitch, K13, pick up another stitch in gap close to the last stitch. Make sure you distribute 5 stitches per needle.

Knit until middle of thumbnail, then ON EACH NEEDLE, knit to last two stitches, K2tog.

Knit 1 rnd.

Knit decrease round again (9 st). Break yarn, thread end through stitches, secure.
