Take off your shoes and walk to the shoreline. The sand is hot and soft here, where the water tends not to go. The sun shines on your face and arms, warm and comforting. A cool breeze lifts your hair and rustles your shorts around your legs, bringing the scent of the sea. You take a deep breath, letting the salty air fill your lungs.
The sand is getting hotter now, so you move a little faster, hitting the high tide point. The small pebbles poke at your feet, mixed with small, smooth bits of creamy white seashells. The sand is cooler here, as you continue walking toward the welcoming waves. Small pebbles give way to smooth sand once again as the cool water begins nipping at your toes before retracing its path back into the ocean.
The cool water finally covers your ankles as you walk further in, splashing slightly as the water ebbs and flows in low tide. A light spray of water covers your face, and your lips are coated with the tang of salt and seaweed.
A splash sounds over the water, and you glance up to see the beauty of a pod of dolphins. Jump and splash. Jump and splash. You watch them play as they move further out into sea, and you’re left with cool water over your feet and the warmth of the sun across your shoulders.

This shawl was created with the beauty of the beach in mind, using Expression Fiber Arts Dewy DK in Wonder (2 skeins.) The lovely teals offset the white and reminded me of the sparkling ocean. Also shown in Plymouth Yarn DK Merino Superwash (3 skeins + .1 skein) in pink and green, this asymmetrical shawl is versatile and beautiful.

Tested projects used just over 400 yards up to 450 yards of DK weight yarn, but your gauge may vary.
