Matahari is the Indonesian word for our beautiful big ball in the sky: the Sun!
When I create mandalas, I just kind of wing it, each round at a time. It wasn’t until I finished this one that I realised I had created a big beautiful sun right in the middle!
I think of mandalas as the modern day doily. You can stick a vase on it, make it a table centrepiece, a piece of art in a frame or even attached to a hoop and hung on your wall. The possibilities are endless.
But most of all they seem to fulfil the
modern philosophy of craft as therapy. Completing each soothing round!

This pattern is available as a free tutorial on my blog.

But as some of my readers also like a PDF to print and take with them, I have made PDFs available for the super low price of US$1. But remember, if you don’t want to pay, visit my blog. All the instructions and photos are the same for both this $1 pdf and in the free tutorial.

Except if you pay the US$1, you’ll get FOR ABSOLUTELY FREE: Super Warm Fuzzy Feelings from helping a single mum down in KangarooLand!!! (that’s me). That’s right!

SUPER WARM FUZZY FEELINGS absolutely free! Why?

Because I will tell you right now as soon as I get a little ping on my phone that says some lovely person somewhere in the world sent me a dollar for one of my very own patterns, I give a little squeal of delight and do a happy dance. I then yell to my kids, “Mummy sold another pattern!” to which they indifferently shrug and roll their eyes. BUT I“M DOING A HAPPY DANCE!!! BECAUSE OF YOU!!

All you need is your favourite cottons and a hook. In this pattern, I have chosen to use 8 ply cottons and a 3.5mm hook. Oh, and 12 pretty beads.

I have also made this in 8ply mercerized cottons with a 3mm hook. Your choice!
