This simple and somewhat silly hat was first named the Meathead Hat, when it was part of an art installation 10 years ago. Today, that name does not make sense, and so I’ve changed it to a plant-based alternative. The hat seems like an upturned beet to me!

It’s a very simple hat that gets its big impact from the gauge, squishy yarn, and your personal embellishments.

The pattern can be found in the book Knitalong: Celebrating the Tradition of Knitting Together, or can be purchased here alone or as part of the KAL Line collection e-book. Follow the KAL Line link to see more.

Note: Brown sample hat from Knitalong is Lamb’s Pride Brown Sheep Bulky in the Bronze Patina colorway.
