Confession: I usually don’t care for knitting with cotton yarns. Berroco’s Regatta is a rare exception…I love it! This 100% cotton tape is a new take on marled yarn.

Regatta is actually a woven ribbon made up of 2 fine cotton threads in 2 shades, there is a light edge and a dark edge which creates the subtle variations in the knitted fabric. The finished fabric is incredibly light – something else you don’t expect from a bulky cotton – and soft like your favorite sweatshirt. It’s even machine washable.

Think of this pattern as a blank canvas. I knit this version to be loose and cropped so I could throw it on over my summer wardrobe of breezy sundresses and high-waisted beach-y pants but look a little more ‘put together’ than if I was just wearing an old sweatshirt. Make it to suit your own style, and add or subtract length after the last round of increases on the body. Or crop the sleeves for a super quick-to knit top.
