Mindless Escape is a knitted hat pattern that will allow for day dreaming as you create a hat with your choice of crown – basic, slouch or a pointed top. I love purchased pompoms mainly because I can not make a pretty one with yarn. The pompom is optional. This hat is unisex.

The three choices for the crown are:
Simple - basic hat style with a wide brim (pictured in the Fjord colorway)
Sexy - slouch hat style with a wide brim (pictured in the Nantucket colorway
Spiked - stocking cap style with a wide brim (pictured in the Moraine colorway)
Since there are three adult sizes for each style of hat - Small - Medium - Large - this one pattern has nine options!

Due to the nature of the ribbed brim, these hats have tremendous elasticity.

If you are going to substitute a yarn use a DK weight. Keep in mind the spiked version uses about 300 yards.

All hats pictures are size medium. The Sexy version (blue/white) will have more of a slouch if you don’t fold the brim as drastically as it is in the picture.

I bought each of the pompoms at different places - In the Loop in Plainville (my favorite LYS) and also on Etsy.

I hope you like this pattern and that you have the opportunity to sit and knit at some point in the near future.
