The Showy Decrease
The Showy Decrease is a simple modification to your k2tog and ssk decrease that turn the decreases into raised decorative elements. The left and right decrease also match perfectly.

On the blog, we’ve discussed many ways to use the Showy Decrease with stockinette, hat tops, deep ribs and garter stitch. Now we’re starting to explore how the Showy Decrease can improve stitch patterns. The blog post for this design includes before and after photos to show you the impact. Here’s the link to the first blog post about modifying stitch patterns. There is also an entire blog category just about the Showy Decrease if you want to learn more.

Hatch Stitch Edge
The pattern uses the Hatch Stitch edge (see last photo). It’s an alternative to a garter edge that also helps prevent rolling. It’s been one of our most popular “nuances” with over 30,000 hits! You can find it here and use it in any of your other patterns too.

Sizes
The pattern includes instructions for three sizes, however, it is easily modified for different sizes and gauges my changing the number of repeats and stripes .

Yarn
I dipped into my stash for some Karabella Aurora 8. It’s a 100% merino yarn that is hard to get these days so there are alternative ideas listed in the pattern. Any smooth worsted merino or blend will have similar results.
