This is a beginner friendly pattern for a very simple sweater that uses a top-down yoke for a seamless, modern look.

Intended for sock weight yarn, this pattern uses the natural elasticity of moss stitches as well as ribbed edging for a well-fitting, comfortable sweater. The drape of a fine weight yarn with a larger hook size means that it won’t feel rigid or stiff, like other crocheted fabrics can. And the ribbed hemlines keep the shape flattering and polished, and comfy!

There truly isn’t a simpler sweater! Adjustments can be made to yarn weight and size, and stitch counts are generally adaptable. I’ve also included several examples of interesting color effects to do with moss stitch, for your own sweater!

Sizes included are XS-4XL. Yardage for a medium sweater is 1650, with other yardages approximated. Instructions for a gauge swatch are included in the pattern.

This sweater is worked almost entirely in a single piece. No ugly seams or confusing construction. Some photos included.

This project is especially perfect for hand dyed yarn, with a subtle yet sleek texture of moss stitches that will look elegant and professionally made.

Errata: Patterns purchased before 1/26/22 show a mistake in the Neck Ribbing section. The former print said R158 instead of R159 as the last row of the section. This has been corrected in the current PDF.
