At first glance, Saffron Walden is a small English market town with just a few main streets. Leave the car behind and explore on foot however and you will find some hidden gems. Streets and alleys tucked away, just waiting to be discovered. I love how these socks also explore twists and turns as the two sets of cables meander along.

One cable is quite straightforward and the other more challenging. Although they look complex the cable repeat only calls for cabling on every 6th row with the majority of the sock knit in a broad rib. The sample as shown uses the Fish Lips Kiss Heel – a wonderful heel technique which I highly commend to you. To respect the designers copyright I have not included the directions here but have given my usual heel flap construction. For the princely sum of $1 (approx 60p) however the FLK heel pattern offers a wealth of information and instruction and I do recommend that you take a look.
