The (no need to) Panic sweater was designed for new sweater knitters who have done shawls or other projects but are intimidated to make a sweater. Join us in the Casapinka group for a knit-a-long. There are optional short rows (no need to do them if you’re a beginner!)

We apologize in advance but we are unable to make modifications to this pattern. Note that if you decide to steek it for a cardigan your stitches will not be even around the opening.

There are long-sleeved instructions and two short sleeved versions. The slightly puffy sleeve option (shown in the light blue) has not been fully tested - it was an afterthought but Sharon and I really like it - it’s a puffy sleeve for people who don’t like puffy sleeves because it’s really subtle.

More budget friendly yarns include
Berroco Vintage DK, Cascade Cherub DK (good for sensitive to wool people), and Plymouth Yarn DK Merino, Berroco Pima 100. Talk to your local yarn store - they are always happy to show you yarns that work for you!

Sample yarns:
Light blue yarn is Emma’s Cotton DK (50% merino, 50% cotton) in Forget me Not.

Aqua speckled yarn is Miss Babs Yowza in Defender of Snax (dyed especially for Sharon.)

Magenta Yarn is Madelinetosh DK in Wino Forever (and note that this was the first version and we narrowed the neck for subsequent testing.

Materials
5 (5, 6, 7, 7)8, 8, 9, 10 skeins of DK weight yarn (225 yards per skein. If there is more or less per skein, you will need to make appropriate adjustments.) Short sleeved version: Requires approximately one fewer skeins. Sizes 8 and 9 require two fewer skeins than the long-sleeved version.

US 6/4.0mm, 16”/40 cm and 24-40”/60-100 cm circular needles or size needed to attain gauge.

US 7/4.5mm needle also recommended for doing the texture in the bottom portion of the yoke as the gauge is slightly smaller than stockinette (details in pattern).

Sizes
1 (2, 3, 4, 5)6, 7, 8, 9; designed to be worn with 6-12”/15-30 cm positive ease.
See Notes (page 2 of the pattern) for tips/eplanations for choosing a size!
