The shape of these Christmas tree ornaments are a tribute to the fragile glass ornaments I was forbidden to touch in my childhood.
I found it very satisfying to re- create those longed for decorations in a safe and cuddly form!

I created felted unbreakable baubles because Milo my Siamese cat loves Christmas- He thinks that I provide a tree full of cat toys just for him!
I’m sure he thinks I set him an annual challenge to see how quickly he can wreck my tree!

These knit and felt decorations are both cat proof and child friendly.

This pattern includes 3 designs:-
Small round bauble- 5cm / 2” high
Large round bauble- 8.5cm / 3” high
Pendant bauble-. 13.5cm / 5” high

Quick and easy to make, these baubles are knitted flat using stocking stitch and basic increases and decreases.

There is no complex pattern work.
The design is easily added after seaming and stuffing the baubles, and blends into the stripes as the felt forms in the wash.

This 6 page pattern includes full instructions for knitting, sewing up, stuffing, creating the cross pattern and felting your baubles.

Yarn amounts :-
Small bauble 5g (14m, 16yds)
Large bauble 10g (20m, 22yds)
Pendant 12g (24m, 27yds)

You will be able to make a tree full of felt baubles from 2 skeins of wool!

Alternatively, you could make plain baubles and embellish them as you wish with needle felting, sequins, ribbon or embroidery.

Cascade 220, Aran weight yarn used single (not double as is often recommended for felting) gives a fine thin felt.
Alternative yarns must be 100% wool and hand wash only.

You will also need toy stuffing to finish this project.
