A native Michigander transplanted to the east coast, I spent a week this summer enjoying the beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The lace sections of the shawl are reminiscent of the Mackinac Bridge, which takes you from the Lower Peninsula into the Upper Peninsula. The shawl is perfect for keeping warm from the breeze off of Lake Superior.

The triangular shawl is worked from one vertex. For the first half of the shawl, increase are made at both edges and decreases are made in the middle of the shawl. Then, increases are made only on one edge and decreases are made on the other edge and in the middle. The pattern features an 8 row repeat in the increase section and a similar 8 row repeat in the decrease section.

Level: Easy
The pattern features an eight row repeat. There are special decrease stitches, which are detailed in the picture tutorial, making the pattern accessible for a beginner looking for a new challenge.

Size:
Adjustable. Information is included to change the size of the pattern. The pictured shawl is approximately 76” wide by 18.5” deep before blocking and 78” wide by 19.5” deep after blocking. It used just under 150 g (623 yds) of fingering weight yarn.

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terms. The PDF download includes:
