This pattern is also available in Swedish under the name Norrsken

The pattern describes a triangular shape. You can make a shawl out of 2 or 3 triangles (or more, if you want). In my mind, the 2-triangle version is suitable for men.

For the masculine variant you need 80 (100, 120) gr or 610 (760, 920) yards of yarn.

For the feminine variant you need 100 (150, 200) gr or 760 (1140, 1520) yards of yarn.
