Take a bit of summer along with you into the fall and winter with some bright and colorful garden memories.

This 45x20in (115x50cm) triangular scarf/shawlette was knit with 4-ply WYS superwash yarn in cayenne. It took around 3/4 of 1 skein to complete.

Although it’s not exactly designed for beginners, anyone with some lace-knitting skills can easily knit this written pattern.

Gauge is not important, and this could be knit with laceweight yarn for a smaller triangle, or with a DK-weight yarn for a slightly larger shawlette.

Jan 2015 update - variation:

Row 109: K1, YO, (K4, K2tog, YO, K1PB, YO, SSK, K4) 7 times; K4, K2tog, YO, K1PB, YO, SSK, K3, YO, SK2P, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, SK2P, YO, K3, K2tog, YO, K1PB, YO, SSK, K4, (K4, K2tog, YO, K1PB, YO, SSK, K4) 7 times; YO, K1 (221 stitches)
K1PB = Knit stitch and then place bead on stitch using a small crochet hook.

What to do:
Use the same size needles that pattern calls for (US 6/4.0mm)

Change to DK-weight yarn (Artesano British Wool; Color: Bluebell) 3-50g skeins (I used most all of the yarn, or around 340 yards/310 meters
)
Add 16-8mm translucent glass beads (color: wheat) - see instructions above
