First a provisional cast on and then is worked and bound off in one direction to form the bottom of one side of the scarf. The live stitches from the other end of the cast on are worked in the opposite direction to make up half the scarf. Another piece identical to the first is formed. Then the 2 halves are joined using 3-Needle Bind Off.

What I love about this is the resulting lace and cables pattern veering off in two opposing directions right at the start of the scarf on each end. Great way to practice some new techniques.
