Inspired by the cute bumpiness of a two colour version of the Channel Island cast-on, these simple garter stitch booties can be knitted up over two evenings of movie watching (real popcorn is optional). Knitted with 8 ply (double knit) pure wool yarn, these booties will coordinate beautifully with the Popcorn Beret and Popcorn Cardigan (still in the design stage).

The booties are knitted flat on either a circular needle or double pointed needles and a contrast colour is introduced as a woven strand that is incorporated whilst knitting a wrong side row. The sole of the booties is created by simple sets of k2tog and ssk pairs, which means that there is only one seam to sew. Only a small amount of yarn is required for the contrast colour (4 metres/yards), which makes this a great project for using up bits and bobs of leftover yarn.

Tension Gauge is 26 st x 52 rows over 10 cm (4 inches). Please note that these booties are knitted with quite a tight gauge, tighter than you would normally use for garter stitch with 8 ply (double knitting) yarn.

Construction Notes, photos and links to useful YouTube videos are provided to assist you in completing the various construction techniques, which include Channel Island cast on using two colours, woven contrast colour, three needles bind-off and invisible garter stitch back seam.
