Autumn is a magical season. The leaves change in an explosion of color, there’s a fresh start as everyone heads off to school, and everything and anything is available in Pumpkin Spice. Plus, there’s that perfect nip in the air that means it’s time to pull out the wool!

Celebrate Autumn with the Pumpkin Spice Cowl - squishy, soft, and oh so snuggly, the cowl has a double layer of stitches to keep you extra warm. It can be made with three colors, as shown, or as a two-tone beanie. The pattern includes instructions for adjusting the circumference and height, as well as information for customizing the stripes so as to use up every scrap of each color. It’s reversible with a totally different look when worn inside out (see the images labeled as the inside of the cowl), but the color changes need to be worked accordingly if you want to wear it in both directions.

Yardage will vary based on size and any customizations. Slightly more than 50% of the yardage should be in color C, approximately 40% in color B, and the remaining 10% in color A. When worked as stated, the cowl uses 140yds color C, 105yds color B, and 35yds of color A. One skein in each color is enough for a child/teen beanie, gloves, and cowl. If you’re working up a larger size, I recommend getting a second skein in color A. The cowl includes instructions for customizing it to use up any extras after the beanie and gloves, so you can make the most of your yardage.

This is an advanced level pattern. It’s fiddly and detailed, but so worth it! Skills required include working in the round, working flat, counting/reading stitches/rows, and working front post and back post stitches. The pattern includes written instructions for each size and has close up photos of the FO so you can see how it should look. There’s also a ton of notes so please read those carefully!
