Propinquity is a physical closeness or proximity to something. Psychologists have found evidence of the propinquity effect, that the closer we are to desirable people or things, the more we like them.

The Purple Propinquity Shawl is an oversized triangular shawl worked from the center. Post stitches in two accent colors are used to create a textured design, making the pattern interesting to crochet and the finished shawl visually intricate.

The pictured shawl is made with DK weight yarn. The shawl can also be made with sport or fingering weight yarn for a slightly smaller shawl.

Level: Intermediate
The pattern uses post stitches and stitches made into different rows, but there is a detailed picture tutorial, for those looking for a challenge.

Size:
With DK weight yarn, the shawl is approximately 36” deep and 75” wide. With sport weight yarn, the shawl is approximately 33” deep and 68” wide. The pictured shawl used approximately 525g of DK weight yarn.

This is an instant PDF pattern download. The pattern is written in English using US crochet terms. The PDF download includes:

I made the pictured shawl with Knit Pick’s Cotlin and a G (4.25 mm) crochet hook. The pattern has been tested in fingering, sport, and DK weight yarn.
