This pattern shows you how to knit three different hats with popular chunky wool yarns — a basic beanie, a longer slouch hat, and a folded brim hat. Each hat is simple and easy to make with large needles. Obviously, knitting speeds vary, but you should be able to knit one of these hats in about an hour.

You will need a size 17 20-inch circular needle (I use a Clover bamboo set) and a set of size 17 DPNs. If you prefer, you can knit the whole hat on the DPNs. If you can find a size 17 circular that is only 16 inches long, that would be ideal.

The patterns are quite similar and all use the same yarn, so I figured, why not put 3 patterns in one? I love these hats - they’re cozy, flattering, and great for gifts. The folded brim one is great for guys.
