This simple ribbed hat and mittens are designed for either women or men. The hat features a comfortable, stretchy random ribbing and can be worn with a turn-up brim or as a loose slouch. The warm and cozy mittens feature gusseted thumbs and matching random ribbing. (Both the hat and mittens are included in the pattern).

The hat and the pair of mittens can be knit from 2 skeins of the Brigit Worsted.

Vermont has numerous red barns, with rusty-red weathered wooden planks, protecting farmer’s stock throughout the long winter months. The state also is home to a distinctive style of red barn with a rounded, dome-shaped roof. Those barns are the inspiration for the simple pair of mittens and hat.
