This cabled and ribbed hat is knit flat, partially sewn up at the crown using the Mattress technique (explained in this pattern with diagrams) and then laced up on the side like a corset. This hat will add a touch of whimsy to whatever you choose to wear it with.

To make this hat you will need about 150 to 190 yards of Worsted weight yarn. I used Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted yarn in the color Victorian Pink. You will also need a tapestry needle to sew the top part of the hat with and some yarn, cord or ribbon to lace the hat up with in the final step.
