The Rigi 2 Hat is currently in test knitting. If you’d like to join — not all sizes are covered yet — you’re welcome to apply here: https://forms.gle/bkARhoZB5Qoej1HWA The pattern is available in German and English and has been tech edited.

The Rigi 2 Hat is worked from the bottom up, beginning with a folded 1×1 rib cuff and continuing into a broad rib pattern of 16 radial rib segments. “Rigi 2” because there are two layers of fabric over the ears.

The decreases translate the logic of round-yoke sweaters into a hat construction.

Named after Mount Rigi — often called the “Queen of the Mountains” — the hat’s crown-shaped silhouette echoes its namesake.

The hat is worked on a short (40 cm) circular needle. For the crown shaping, switch to double-pointed needles or to a long circular needle using the Magic Loop method.
