Ripen is a striking one-skein shawl with a leafy edging and an all-around lace border. The shawl is knit in one piece from side to side. Featuring a spice-colored yarn and optional bead details, Ripen lets you hold on to the last of the rustling fall leaves when winter really sets in.

Working intermediate lace from charts, increases/decreases, double decreases, knit and purl patterning on wrong side rows, bead placement with crochet hook (optional)

US 11/12 (1 mm) crochet hook, or size required to fit through hole of beads (optional)

Although this shawl is worked flat, a circular needle is recommended to hold the stitches comfortably.

• Miyuki Seed Beads, size 6/0, color 6-304 Garnet Gold Luster: number required 59 (optional)
• Stitch markers (minimum 2)
• Yarn needle

Beads can be replaced by nupps, or the detail can be omitted altogether by purling these stitches.
