This slouchy hat is worked from the bottom up in one piece, in the round. The brim is worked in garter stitch. The knit & purl zig zag pattern is both written and charted. It’s a good idea to read the pattern thoroughly before you begin.

Materials:
Yarn: approx 140 (160, 190) yards of worsted weight yarn.

Needles: US 7 / 4.5mm and US8 / 5mm circular needles (40cm).
US 8 / 5mm longer circular needles for magic loop or dpns.

Notions: 1 stitch marker, tapestry needle, waste yarn.

Sizing:
Instructions are given for the smallest size with larger sizes in parentheses – small child (older child, adult).

Actual brim size: 16 (17.5, 19.5) inches / 40.5 (44.5, 50) cm.

To fit head circ: 18-19 (19-20.5, 21-22) inches / 46-48 (48-52, 53-56) cm.

Choose a size with 2-3 inches of negative ease

Gauge: 18 st and 30 rows per 4 inches / 10cm in textured chevron pattern on smaller needle (adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge).
