Der Rote Hang is a special wine-growing region between Nackenheim and Nierstein in Rheinhessen / Germany.
The red colored ground with ranks of vine climbing up from the Rhine was inspiration for this pattern.

Der Rote Hang was an exclusive design for the 2nd Schwabsburger Wollfest in June 2011.
At www.wollsinn.de a special dyed sockyarn for this pattern is available.

If you want to knit these socks in a looser gauge of about 28 sts x 36 rows leave out rounds 1, 14, 15, 32, 33, 50, 51 and 72 of pattern A and B to shorten the instep.
