The hikers in my family love headbands! They keep wind out of their ears and hair out of their faces while hiking on those rugged trails. These headbands are two variations inspired by rugged trails and knit using traveling cables. They can be knit up quickly with a small amount of yarn, and make perfect gifts for hikers and non-hikers alike!

This pattern is 2 pages long and includes full directions and charts for both of the headbands shown. It is designed for intermediate level knitters who are familiar with working cables. The cable design is both charted and written out so you can use your preferred method. The pattern is professionally tech edited and fully test knit to be clear and free of errors.

Sizes: XS (S, M, L) designed to be worn with 2 to 4 inches of negative ease to fit a range of head circumferences from 20 to 24 inches depending on fit preference. Shown in size S.

Finished Measurements:
Circumference: 18.5 (19 1/4, 20, 20 3/4) in/ 47 (48.5, 51, 52.5) cm.
Height: 3 1/4 in/ 8.5 cm.

Gauge:
26 sts and 34 rnds/ 4 in/ 10 cm over cable patterns in the rnd. (The same yarn and needles gave me 21 sts/ and 30 rnds/ 4 in/ 10 cm in a flat stockinette swatch.)

What you need:

• Worsted weight yarn: 72 (76, 79, 81) yards/ 65 (69, 72, 74) meters. Sample shown used approximately 3/4 of a skein of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes, 100% wool, 110 yd/50g, colors “Amethyst Heather” and “Spruce”.

• One 16 in/ 40cm circular needle in size required to obtain gauge. I used US #4/ 3.5 mm. You may need a size or two above or below that.

• One cable needle

• One stitch marker

• Tapestry needle
