Serengeti Sun Scrubbie by Gari Lynn

Serengeti Sun Scrubbie

Discontinued. This digital pattern is no longer available online.

I designed Serengeti Sun for the August Phat Fiber Sample Box “Africa” theme. It is one of my garter stitch motifs edged with I cord series.

Serengeti Sun is written in 2 sizes, both using heavy worsted weight yarn. The models in the pictures used Red Heart Worsted Weight yarn and Lily Sugar ‘N Cream. Starting with an octagonal center, points are picked up and knit. I cord edging is worked at the same time. Finishing is simple with just 3 ends to work in.

Serengeti Sun can be used alone for a scrubbie, tawashi, susemi, dishcloth, facecloth, coaster, hanging ornament, potholder, or facecloth. Surface crochet can give the sun a smiling face or a spiral motif.
