Summertime and the knitting is easy! When the sky is blue and the sun is shining we can all hear the beach calling - for some well-deserved surf, sand and fun! It is time to relax, collect shells, build sand castles, and go for a swim. Or, if the beach is not close, sit out in the sunshine by the pool or in your favorite spot, with an ice cool smoothie, and, of course, a bit of summer knitting!

Nothing could be more perfect than the She Sells Sea Shawls wrap! It will keep you warm after sunset, when knitted with lighter yarn weight like lace or fingering, or, if you prefer a sturdier version to keep you cosy during the long summer nights, you will also find an adapted size for DK or sport, as the pattern comes in three sizes - small, medium, and large.

Fancy a summer mini skirt? Then you are in luck! The She Sells Sea Shawls will look wonderful when draped around your hips. Naturally, you can knit an actual skirt as well! You will find all the relevant adjustments in the pattern.

To create a stunning and stylish She Sells Sea Shawls wrap, you will need two contrasting yarns of the same weight. You can choose two solids, one solid and one color gradient, two color gradients, or – provided you have a yarn with a very long color gradient – two balls of the same gradient and work from opposite ends.

For the first wrap, I used two identical balls of Wollbonbon (www.wollbonbon.de) with a very long color gradient. You will see the pattern fading in and out, when the changing hues meet their equal. I used one ball with 820 yards / 750 m and another with 600 yards / 550 m and knitted the large version. Below I added a list of the yarns I found on Ravelry that come with a very long color gradient in case you need some inspiration.

The second version shown on the pattern page was knitted in size large as well, using 2 balls of Schoppel XXL Kleckse and one ball of Schoppel Zauberball. If you knit the optional trim, to add a dash of color, two skeins of sock yarn length should suffice for the small version. If you leave the realm of fingering yarn, the yardage will, of course, be different. Keep that in mind.

Whatever yarn you choose, She Sells Sea Shawls is a fun to knit reversible project. It is knitted in modules and there is no seaming involved. All instructions are written and charted and you will find plenty of helpful photo tutorials to guide you through the different techniques. This makes She Sells Sea Shawls a feasible project for most knitters.
