Like the rose it’s named for, the Shoshana Shawl is a classic beauty. It features rows of dc interspersed with a simple lace pattern for a classic look that coordinates perfectly with any outfit. Worked in one piece from the top down, the Shoshana Shawl is a triangle-shaped shawl that curves upwards just a hint.

The Shoshana Shawl is the ultimate in customizability. Mix and match lace and solid rows in any combination to make a shawl that is utterly unique. The pattern includes instructions for four versions - Solid With a Bit of Lace, Lace With a Bit of Solid, Solid to Lace, and Customized - and each version has additional notes and details for making changes.

The pattern works beautifully with any colorway, from gradient to variegated, and uses only sc, dc, and ch sts, making it doable even for a beginner. One skein is enough for a full-sized lace shawl, or a solid shawlette, and the pattern’s customizability makes it easy to add additional skeins for larger shawls. The samples were worked up using fingering weight skeins from Dragonfly Fibers, but the pattern works beautifully with anything from a lace weight to a worsted.

The final size varies based on yardage, blocking, and on the version of the pattern you’re working up - lace rows will always use up less yarn than solid rows. When gauge is met, a Solid to Lace made with one set of Dragon Sock mini skeins will have a wingspan of 51” and measures 29” down the back. A Solid With a Bit of Lace made with two skeins of Dragon Sock will have a wingspan of 54” and measure 29” down the back. A Lace With a Bit of Solid made with one skein of Dragon Sock will have a wingspan of 54” and measure 25” down the back.
