The asymmetrical eyelet lace pattern used in these socks reminds me of the Sierra Nevada mountains where I grew up. It is interesting yet easy pattern, using an unusual method of establishing the center yarn over from which all other yarn overs radiate. About midway through the lace pattern, the yarn overs and decreases are no longer balanced. This creates illusion of mountains with one very steep side while the other side slopes steadily to the top. The sock also incorporates a shaped arch which hugs the foot and eliminates bunching.
