This pattern is for a simple garter stitch square.

The materials are all you need for one square, I used 3 different yarns to create 3 different blankets to illustrate how easy it is to make your unique garter stitch square blanket.

For a finished blanket that measures 78cm x 50cm I used 8 balls of yarn with 100m per 50g ball.

I designed this pattern to get new knitters comfortable with knitting and familiar with tension/gauge.

It seems to me that when I ask knitters about tension I get several different reactions. Sometimes I feel like a doctor who asks, how much alcohol/chocolate/coffee/ sugar do you have a week? There isn’t a wrong answer to my question, just your answer.

Once we know this tension we can get the right size for you. Your tension will be different for each yarn and your tension will change depending on how you feel or where you are in your knitting journey. When I started knitting I had a tight tension, so I took this into consideration when picking my size or needles.

Somewhere along the way my tension has become looser and I now knit on different needles for the same yarn. Who knows it might change again!
