Last week I lost my favourite hat.

There really was nothing extra special about this hat except that it was super comfortable and warm and long enough to cover my ears.

People always complimented me on my hat – which I found odd since it was such a basic hat…but once I had lost it – I really missed it so I had to make another!

It is a very quick and easy pattern so I went to the store picked up another ball of yarn and worked it up.

The pattern below is for the basic hat in all sizes – a hat perfect for boys and girls (men and women).

It works up in less than an hour and uses 1-2 balls of Super Bulky Yarn. For my hat pictured here I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn in colourway “Grass”.

To make the decorative button edge for the 6-10, teen and adult versions please scroll to the bottom, it is a quick ‘faux’ band with button which is added at the very end of the hat pattern.
