This is an intermediate pattern worked in the round. It does have some quite fiddly bits but the result is a gorgeously frightening amigurumi-style shark. I call him Socrates … don’t let that grin fool you!

Socrates sells really well at craft fairs and is a perfect gift for people who like cuddly toys but don’t like to admit they have a softer side.

In addition to the yarn you will need some safe and clean toy fill or stuffing. You can use safety eyes but I find embroidered eyes have a brilliant ‘hollow’ look like a real shark.

There is a suggested stripe pattern included but I like to do my stripes differently nearly every time.

I use an acrylic DK that I know conforms to toy safety standards and is easy to wash because I sell him but any DK yarn should do.

Feel free to gift, use or sell what you make from the pattern but please do not copy, share or sell the pattern itself without prior written permission from String Theory Crochet.
