Softly as I Go is a simply constructed cowl utilizing knits, purls and slipped stitches to create a beautiful, quick knit. A trendy cowl in keeping with the many striped shawls currently in vogue, it can be worn long, or can be doubled over for more warmth. It allows for the utilization of that luxury fingering weight variegated or speckled yarn you have hoarded away, but don’t quite know what to do with. Pair it with a contrasting solid yarn and your cowl pattern will pop. This pattern is a great stash buster.

Materials
• Yarn – approximately 225 yards each of 2 contrasting fingering weight yarns. Original cowl used Skein Yarn Merino Cashmere Fingering yarn in the colorway Jersey for the MC and Miss Bab’s Caroline in the repeatable colorway Moonlight Stroll for the CC.
• Needles – US #4/3.5mm Circular Needle
• Gauge – 7 sts over 1” unblocked. Gauge is not critical to pattern but could affect yardage requirements.
• Notions – stitch markers – 1 for marking beginning of round and extra if desired for I-cord cast on (I place every 50 sts to reduce recounting and drop them off when working the first round of my work).
