Chunky, slouchy buttoned legwarmers evoke the romance of spatterdashers without a lot of fuss. Periodic eyelets create the easiest-ever buttonholes while simultaneously providing all necessary shaping.

I’ve noticed that projects done in wool tend to fit much more closely to the calf than the silk original. If you like it that way, that’s great. If you don’t, it turns out a good aggressive blocking both adds width and makes the fabric more drapy, for a slouchy effect.
